Streamlining Internal Network Management For IT Services
Challenge
For IT teams, keeping track of devices and the properties of those devices connected to an internal network plays an important role when it comes to maintenance and troubleshooting.
At the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC), a combination of an off-the-shelf enterprise software and a manual effort by the IT team using spreadsheets posed a challenge to keeping track of the various devices on the network in a timely manner.
Solution
PingON was a custom application solution we developed to track the properties of devices on SSMIC’s network. The app’s main feature is the detection of all devices connected to SSMIC servers through “pings” that acquires the associated operating systems and the domains from a DNS search of IP addresses.
Benefits
PingON’s all-in-one solution provided SSMIC’s IT team with the ability to manage its internal IP address inventory and check the network status of the devices connected to its network. This streamlined a previously manual process and optimized the maintenance of internal servers.
